Dear Friends, Welcome to our April Newsletter. Since January 2008, ESU has been sending the Student Voice out to over 2000 interested parties, including our members, alumni, Members of the European Parliament, Commissioners, Media and so on. Every week, over 50 new people sign up to receive the newsletter via the link on our website. As a general rule, we aim to make the newsletter as collaborative an effort as possible, inviting members to share their news (we recently presented a new youth blog in Belarus, and in this edition you can read about our Hungarian members' successful fight to abolish tuition fees). The three elected ESU committees all submit articles each month, presenting an overview of all that is happening in European Higher Education from a student perspective. The Student Voice is precisely what it says on the cover.
Next week, student representatives from across Europe will come together at ESU's 54th Board Meeting in Slovakia. This event will see our members elect the future generation of European Representatives who will have the important task of settling into entirely new structures which were passed at our 53rd Board Meeting in Novermber last year. They will create the groundwork for the many generations of student representatives to come. Prior to the Board Meeting itself, ESU is organising an exciting seminar on Equity in Higher Education - please read about this event below and follow the link to our website for more information. In staff news, The ESU secretariat is delighted to welcome a new colleague to its' team. Christine Scholz, from Germany, took up her function as the new financial officer on April 19th and, though not entirely a stranger to the organisation having been elected twice to the Committee on Commodifiction, she is having to discover a whole new face of ESU and is settling in splendidly.
