BRUSSELS - SiS Catalyst is a four-year long European Commission project funding the Mobilising Mutual Learning Action Plan. It is an initiative to foster and support ethical, effective and sustainable engagement among children from the age of seven to fourteen and the social, cultural, political, scientific and educational institutions, which make the decisions that will shape their futures.
While it seeks to empower children everywhere and influence all kinds of institutions to engage with them, the initiative has a particular focus on strengthening relationships between post-secondary education institutions and the children who, despite ability, currently appear unlikely to enter them.
Within its 7th Work Package, “Recognising the role of the students”, the project foresees three rounds of internships. The interns are university students all around Europe. The 3rd round of the internship program will be hosted by the Koolish College in Montana, USA and started in Mid-June for a period of two months. This time there was a specific focus on Roma students. Reports from the interns will be collected at the end of the programmes and used for the needs of the project.
Overall, the SIS Catalyst project has given ten interns the opportunity to participate in the programme. Their experience will be considered as final results of the project, which will be summarized and presented at the final event organized in Vienna, in September 2014.
