Lithuania - (LSAS)

LSAS - Lietuvos studentu atstovybiu sajunga (National Union of Student Representations of Lithuania) - was established on the 1st of June 2000. The founders of the organization were student unions of Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Today it unites more than 100 000 students through its member unions in 21 Higher Education Institutions from all academic regions of Lithuania and represents students of all educated specialties. The main decision makers in LSAS are students themselves, who decides on local and national policies through their representatives of every academic group in Lithuanian higher education institutions.

While participating in the creation of democratic educational system, which would satisfy the interests of students and guarantee protection of their rights, LSAS seeks for the quality of higher education and represents students in the governmental institutions, public organizations and various movements, supports and protects rightful interests related with social and economical prosperity and public status.

LSAS – National, democratic, independent, voluntary, non-profit union of public organizations, unifying student representations of Lithuanian higher education institutions.

Vision of LSAS – Democratically represented students’ community – a conscious, civic and influential force in the society.

Mission of LSAS – To unite and educate students’ community and effectively represent their interests on the national and international levels through active and qualitatively working student representations of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions.

The values of LSAS are:
Unity – organizations with shared values, acting with a common purpose. 
Citizenship – understanding ourselves as a part of the civil society. 
Transparency – clear organizational processes. 
Openness – the organization is always open for suggestions, criticisms, assistance. The organization is open to students. 
Drive – organization strongly and actively responds to the factors which affects students' well-being.

The strategic objectives of LSAS are:

4. To establish a democratic, effective representation for students.

7. To raise the competencies of LSAS.
