NUS UK – the national union representing students from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales – are calling on all students in the UK to join the strike and Walk Out / Teach-In on the 2nd of March 2022. We will be going on strike from an education system that does not serve us and holding our own teach-ins to practice the kind of education that we know that students deserve.
We’re calling for students to organise to get themselves and others from their universities and colleges to London, or to organise their own actions locally! We will take over central London and build our own education for the day – it’s a protest, it’s a party, and it’s something we will come together for.
It’s no secret, students in the UK have been failed by successive governments. From sky-high fees to inefficient and underfunded support services, this system is broken. Now is the time to take matters into our own hands.
Our demands for the new vision for education are as follows:
We’re tired of asking for scraps from these governments: we all want to see a radically different education, and we want to build a movement that can win it. That means we need to build the type of education we want first – and that’s what we’ll do here.
