Higher education concerns more than just employability 

BRUSSELS - Around 150 people, of which most were representing national unions of students in Europe, gathered in Brussels from 19-21 March to debate the multi-layered meaning of employability, student participation in decision-making and the role of the European Union with key policy-makers and other stakeholders in higher education. Stronger cooperation needed with students' unions

SOFIA - Xavier Prats Monné, the Deputy Director-General for Education and Culture at the European Commission, and Isabelle Thomas, Member of the European Parliament, were among the many guests that attended the formal opening of the 27th European Students' Convention and final conference of the SAGE project. Symbolic action for Ukraine at the European Parliament

BRUSSELS - On 20 March, the European Students' Union organised a candlelight vigil to honour the victims of the Maidan in Ukraine. BRUSSELS - On 1 March 2014, the European Students' Union sent a letter addressed to all world leaders about the situation in Ukraine in relation to news about a military intervention in the Crimea region. Higher education organisations present proposal for revised European Standards and Guidelines 

BRUSSELS - The E4 Group (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), European Students' Union (ESU), European University Association (EUA), European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE)), in cooperation with Education International (EI), BUSINESSEUROPE and European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) have published on 18 March a joint proposal for a revised version of the "Standards and Guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area". BRUSSELS - Students wish to see sustainable, accessible and high quality higher education as one of the main priorities during the next legislative term of the European Union. This wish was delivered by the European Students' Union (ESU) directly to Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament, and José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, at a debate event organised by the European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, on 4 March.

Turkish and Armenian student representatives at the European Parliament 

BRUSSELS - The Student Council of Turkey (SCT) and the Armenian National Students Association (ANSA) invited people to a dialogue at the European Parliament on 3 March. The aim of this meeting was to show an example of good cooperation between Turkey and Armenia, but these two movements have been working together on a student exchange programme.
