Celebrating Human Rights Day
On 10th December, we celebrated the International Human Rights Day. On this occasion, we encouraged all students to speak up for their rights and fight all forms of discrimination, xenophobia and hate speech on their campuses and beyond.

ESU hosts meeting of all co-chairs of the BFUG working group
On 17th December, the European Students' Union hosted a
 meeting of the co-chairs of all the Bologna Follow-Up Group (BFUG) working groups and advisory groups. The main purpose of the meeting was to plan working group actions and to draw a draft roadmap for implementation for the period 2015-2018. During this time, ESU will be co-chairing the working group on "New Goals - Policy Development for new EHEA goals", together with EI/ETUCE, France, Sweden and the Russian Federation.

Guidance on Protecting Education on Anniversary of Deadly School Attack
To mark the one-year anniversary of the Pakistani Taliban's attack on Army Public School in northwestern Pakistan that left at least 145 people dead -  the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) released the report, "What Ministries Can Do to Protect Education from Attack and Schools from Military Use: A Menu of Actions."

EQAF marks 10th anniversary at 2015 Forum in London
The 2015 European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) was held in London, UK on 19-21 November, hosted by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and UCL Institute of Education. Over 500 participants attended, making it the largest EQAF to date and a fitting way to mark the 10th anniversary of the Forum.

Project News
ESU to participate in new project - European Forum for Enhanced Collaboration in Teaching (EFFECT)
ESU was invited to participate as a project partner in a new
 Erasmus+ project, namely:  "European Forum for Enhanced Collaboration in Teaching (EFFECT). The project brings together experts, dedicated networks, organisations and institutions from different parts of Europe, and provides an innovative and transferable approach to higher education teaching staff development. On 7 December, ESU took part in the EFFECT kick-off meeting at EUA's premises in Brussels.

The European Students' Union is organising with colleagues of the EQUIP project (EURASHE, ENQA, EUA, EI, EQAR, UiO, CCISP) 5 events on the use of the ESG 2015 as a tool for change in European higher education. The events will take place in the first semester of 2016.

Participate in the feasibility study CALOHEE!
ESU will take part in a new project, co-financed by the European Commission in the framework of ERASMUS+. The project - called 'Measuring and comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Europe' (CALOHEE)  - aims to answer the questions above by developing the infrastructure that will eventually make it possible to test bachelor and master students' performance Europe-wide across a range of fields.

Poland: PSRP has protected students' rights for 20 years
For 20 years the PSRP has strived to ensure that students' rights in Poland are respected. "In my opinion, the greatest effect of PSRP's work is successful struggle for the second program of study, which is back free of charge" - says Mateusz Mrozek. The Constitutional Court in June 2014, claimed that provisions relating to payment for the second course of study are unconstitutional.

France: FAGE - Ominous time for French students!
The end of the year is the period when parliamentarians are voting state budget for the next year. Debates related to higher education budget were closely followed by our national board. Two topics were particularly relevant. Firstly, the decrease of universities' budget leads to insufficient means to face the growing number of students and to invest in the approved pedagogic innovations
