BM70 and BM Seminar: Global Student Voice
The European Students' Union (ESU) together with the Norwegian Student Union (NSO) will organise in May its 70th Board Meeting and Board Meeting Seminar in Bergen, Norway. We are looking forward to meeting over 100 delegates from 45 national unions of students to discuss international student cooperation, as well as ways forward for ESU, including the election of new representatives.

New UN education stakeholder group
ESU set to promote inclusive and quality education for all as co-organising partner of new UN stakeholder group. The European Students' Union (ESU), the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), Education International (EI) and the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) have now come together and proposed to the UN that they could be the Organising Partners of this new stakeholder group focused on education.
This gives the members of all of our networks a clear route to engaging in the UN processes on the SDGs, and builds on the work that ESU is already undertaking in terms of implementing the SDG4 in Europe.
Call for students for the ESU Quality Assurance Students Experts' Pool
The Steering Committee of the ESU QA Student Experts' Pool hereby opens a call for 40 members of the ESU Quality Assurance Student Experts' Pool. In addition to new recruits, the call is also being issued to current members of the ESU QA Pool, who wish to continue their activities as pool members.
Successful applicants will be included into ESU's quality assurance experts' pool until 30th of June 2017. Becoming a member of the pool will give eligibility to be nominated by ESU for quality assurance reviews and trainings, and provide an opportunity to gain more knowledge about quality assurance in Europe.

Our Chairperson, Fernando Galan represented the European Students' Union at the 25th Session of the Council of Europe Standing Conference of Ministers of Education taking place between 11-12 April 2016.

Breaking boundaries for future careers 
The European Students' Union recommends joining the next Thematic University-Business Forum in Helsinki, Finland between 2-3 June 2016. This Thematic Forum brings together speakers from universities, companies and regions/cities who present innovative ways in which they collaborate and promote entrepreneurship and new ways of operating in the transforming world. While involved in these activities, students learn valuable, timeless and robust skills that help them thrive in their future endeavors. Jointly, all these players form an ecosystem that offers a fertile ground for budding entrepreneurs.

Winner announced: ESU campaign on international cooperation in student rights
Our campaign on the topic of international cooperation in student rights has come to an end. Students from across the word completed a short survey on ESU and student rights and wrote essays. 
We are glad to announce the winner - Muhammad Arkandiptyo and Indonesian student living in Belgium. He describes himself as an international business-economics student at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, "passionate and active in youth involvement for intercultural understanding".

BizMOOC: Take part in the short survey on MOOCs
ESU invites students and student representative to take part in the short survey on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in the framework of BizMOOC project. The purpose of this survey is to identify needs, gaps & reasons for learners, businesses and universities to boost their Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) activities.
IMPRESS: Improving the experience of Ukrainian students
In the first days of April, 120 students and 33 academic staff from Ukraine gathered in Kiev to discuss how to set up student societies and implement student led activities using the results of IMPRESS - a  project co-funded by TEMPUS Programme.

New Rights for Czech Students Coming with Amendment to the Higher Education Act
The system of higher education in the Czech Republic has been waiting for this essential reform for more than 10 years. On March 2016 all expectations met the reality and the act was passed through the Senate and signed by the president. However, some controversies occurred during its approving - linked to the issue of appointing professors. Although, the president has refused to name several professors in the past, and therefore broke the law, he will keep this duty. The Czech Republic is one of few countries where "professor" is not a function but an academic title that one holds for the rest of one's life.

NOM condemns increasing discrimination against international students
Between 15th-17th of April 2016 EÜL (The Federation of Estonian Student Union) held a meeting of the National Unions of Students of Nordic and Baltic Countries (NOM) in the university city of Estonia - Tartu. The main topic of the NOM meeting was the quality teaching in Higher Education, and students' learning skills.
During the meeting, the NUSs unanimously passed a resolution, addressing the rise of right-wing extremism using the example of Soldiers of Odin, and condemned the increase of racial discrimination against international students in their countries.
